Yup, kde and 2.6.20 kernel works fine on machines with other graphics
chips sets. Please see my orginal report. So I am not supprised that
you don't have any problems using kde with the 2.6.20 kernel on other
machines. Have you tested?
product: Satellite 3000
vendor: TOSHIBA
version: PS300L-02UKL

I am not currently in front of the laptop, I remember I had the
rtl8180 driver error for the working 2.6.19 kernels too. I will up
load the dmesag log and syslog from the working 2.6.19 kernel so you
can compare them.

I expect the problem is with the graphics chips driver. Can you point
me to a HOWTO use a opensource nv driver so that I can illimate the
binary graphics driver as the problem.

And I tried the 2.6.20.9 kernel a few days ago. No go.
