Whenever I attach a device to my laptop, Amarok detects that change
(just like KDE pops up the "what do you want to do with this" box) and
asks me what kind of device it is.  Try removing the manually created
device in the Media Devices side-tab and disconnecting and reconnecting
the device.  I'm not sure if Amarok can detect ifp devices automatically
or not, since I don't have any, but it very well might.

Let me know if by doing that you can get Amarok to detect the device.
