You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In a clean Kubuntu/Feisty installaion it is completely impossible to
perform the simple task of burning an audio CD.

1) When I select "burn audio CD" from Amarok in Kubuntu, k3b tells me
that I miss some mp3 decoding libraray. (Say what?! What the h**** do I
care, it should just work... If it miss some libraray then... install
it! Why should I bother?!?!)

2) When I, in a very technical and genius and in an extremely
commandline-technical crappy-but-typical-linux-style way install the
very secret "mad" library, k3b can decode the mp3 but can now not find
the blank CD I have just pushed into the Cd tray. Say what?! It is just
there... The desktop can find it, but k3b cannot. Holy crap.

Conclusion: Out-of-the-box-installation of Kubuntu/Feisty is completely
useless for the (simple) task of burning an audio CD from a set of MP3
files.
