Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdeutils

When gnupg is not using gnupg-agent (default Feisty config) signing
works fine.

Once agent/pinentry are enabled, the signature fails without a
passphrase actually being requested if a wallet is open:

Now signing changes and any dsc files...
 signfile python-fam_1.1.1-2.1ubuntu1.dsc DDCD686A

You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
user: "Donald Scott Kitterman <scott at kitterman.com>"
1024-bit DSA key, ID DDCD686A, created 2006-12-19

gpg: cancelled by user
gpg: skipped "DDCD686A": bad passphrase
gpg: [stdin]: clearsign failed: bad passphrase
debsign: gpg error occurred! Aborting....
debuild: fatal error at line 1155:
running debsign failed

Once the wallet is closed (manually), signing works (passphrase is
requested via a pinentry window now instead of on the command line):

debsign -kDDCD686A python-fam_1.1.1-2.1ubuntu1_source.changes
 signfile python-fam_1.1.1-2.1ubuntu1.dsc DDCD686A

You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
user: "Donald Scott Kitterman <scott at kitterman.com>"
1024-bit DSA key, ID DDCD686A, created 2006-12-19

 signfile python-fam_1.1.1-2.1ubuntu1_source.changes DDCD686A

You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
user: "Donald Scott Kitterman <scott at kitterman.com>"
1024-bit DSA key, ID DDCD686A, created 2006-12-19

Successfully signed dsc and changes files
