Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop
I am using a Brother HL1440 laser printer, and the CUPS printing system.
If I am using Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US;
rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20061201 Firefox/2.0.0.4 (Ubuntu-feisty)) and am at a
https web page when I click on the print icon in the toolbar or a
"print" button on a page, it jams the print que, and crashes the entire
system. Then I have to completely power down. I can not do the restart
or the system just keeps recycling (click on the version of Ubuntu I
want to use, restarts the computer) .
But after powering down and leaving the computer off for a minute or so,
when I restart Kubuntu - even before logging in the page I wanted to
print prints.
Really weird. I thought this was a "Fluke" but was able to repeat the
error numerous times.
The print que does not get corrupted or jammed, or whatever term you
want to use if I use the menu and click on print from there ( file =>
print). Even on the pages where the print que was freezing or getting
corrupted using the printer icon in the toolbar.
In other words on certain https pages clicking the printer icon does
something to the print que. Using file => print lets me print any page.
