Confirm your new issue. In my Pc is displayed only a black screen with
cursor. However, vt1 disappear and you have to come back to it with Ctrl
- Alt - F1. Thanks again for your collaboration.

** Changed in: kdebase (Ubuntu)
Assignee: Maini Marco => Kubuntu Team
       Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Screen flickers when unused (vt8) session dies
+ /etc/init.d/kdm stop switch away from vt

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: kdm

  Steps to reproduce
  1. Choose K menu->Switch User->Start New Session. vt8 will be available with a new login dialog, do not login.
  2. Go back to vt7.
  3. When unused session on vt8 dies because of the timeout, the screen flickers.

It appears that vt8 session is assigned to the screen when it dies (kdm_greet process) and after it have died the screen is assigned back to vt7.
- Please make it die in the background.
+ This bug seems fixed in Gutsy.
+
+ Another issue seems related to this. Giving the command /etc/init.d/kdm
+ stop in vt, the screen switches away from vt and displays Kubuntu
+ usplash theme (or simply a black screen).

** Summary changed:

- /etc/init.d/kdm stop switch away from vt
+ /etc/init.d/kdm stop switches away from vt

--
/etc/init.d/kdm stop switches away from vt
