Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Hello,

It seems the last official version of Kubuntu released is missing the
FLAC decoding libraries. I do not know yet if other *buntu distros and
older versions of Kubuntu are lacking them too, but right now 6.10
doesn't have them. And that's pretty annoying. I had to install
Mplayer to play my FLAC albums, because Amarok kept complaining there
was no decoder. A quick look in /usr/lib seemed to be lacking the FLAC
libraries, so I'm filling this report.

Yes, this is a bug. FLAC is as open and non-proprietary as any audio
format will ever be. It's a project of Xiph.Org Foundation. FLAC's
popular. If a user can't play his/her FLAC files out of the box, then
the system has a problem. Please look into this.

** Affects: amarok (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
