Same here: with kubuntu 6.10 failed to connects until I have disabled my network interface because default gateway was always the one set over there -> 192.168.1.1 Of course I have enabled option to set default gateway in KPPP but doesn't work :( -- kppp does not assign proper default gateway https://launchpad.net/bugs/53877
