Same for me. It reports "1 updated package", and when clicking on next it crashes.
When run from a console, it emit warnings:

$ sudo adept_updater --nofork
kapture::PkgSystem::PkgSystem()
unknown long option --reindex
Usage: debtags [options] update [options]

Description: updates the package tag database (requires root)

Options are:

Help options:

 -h, -?, --help  print an help message and exit
 -V, --version   print the program version and exit

Other options:

 --local         do not download files when performing an update
