Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Hi! Just so I don't forget, this is about Amarok on Ubuntu Feisty. All
mentioned packages are from the repositories and up-to-date. The
computer is a Centrino Duo, running the latest of either linux-generic
or linux-lowlatency (the problems below happen on both).

I installed Pulseaudio recently, and got it working on most
applications. Amarok uses the Xine engine, which has the option of using
Pulseaudio directly or through Alsa. (Because pulseaudio simulates an
Alsa output.)

If I use the Alsa version, it plays OK. However each time I press play
or pause there is a ~2.5 second delay before it actually happens. This
is rather annoying. (I don't have any fadeouts/crossfades enabled.)

If I use the Pulseaudio output, it gets even more annoying: play and
stop don't have any delay (anyway, less than a sec). However, if I press
pause while playing the sound stops immediately, but Amarok freezes for
10-12 seconds. During this time "amarokapp" is still displayed in the
Pulseaudio Manager, and it disappears the moment Amarok unfreezes.

I tried the xine player with the same settings, and it doesn't have any
delay with neither Alsa nor Pulseaudio output.

** Affects: amarok (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
