Thank you for filing this bug.

This sounds like a duplicate of Bug 71665, which has been fixed in
Feisty.  What version of Kubuntu and Kopete are you running?

Can you try changing /bin/sh to /bin/bash in kopete_latexconvert.sh and
see if that fixes your problem?
