Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

Adept-notifier worked correctly here up to yesterday.

Today, after install of 2.1.2ubuntu14 the notifier ran automatically, as
it should, there was a rash of disk activity that went on for quite some
time, and then instead of the usual notifier icon there is a generic
looking icon (looks like a piece of paper with the lower right corner
folded). The notifier will not launch to install the updates. Clicking
on the icon does nothing and right clicking only gives options for about
update-notifier and quit. The tooltip correctly displays the number of
packages available.

This is on a Dell Latitude L400 (PIII-700 and 256MB RAM). Feisty was
installed via the Herd 2 alternate install CD and has been regularly
updated since then.
