Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

Hi.
This is probably more of a wish-list but I'll include it here anyway and perhaps someone will find it useful.

When it comes to networking I think that there's a bit too much separation between wireless/modem/3g/cat5 networking. Most of the time I'm not interested in what means I connect to the internet, I just want a connection.
I would like to suggest that knetworkmanager would handle all these different types of connections automatically and connect to the appropriate one.
In my ideal world I should be able to define a few methods of connecting and have knetworkmanager go through them in a defined order.

If defined it should:
First try to connect through eth0, if that doesn't work, try wireless, if nothing there go for a 3g-adapter and if everything else fails check if there's a modem and use that to connect.
The order should be easy to define by me so that I don't have to go through all tests if I know that I currently only have access to a modem.

As it is now I have knetworkmanager for eth0 and wireless and kppp (and
vwdial) for modem and 3g. I could probably use kppp for 3g too, I just
havent managed to configure it propery yet. Still, there's two apps
there (well, three really) when there really only should be one.

I hope this is concidered constructive and that someone find it useful.

Thanks for reading this far. I'm done now.

Oscar
