Same problem for me in both Feisty and a clean install of Gutsy Tribe 4.
On a PC (not laptop). I have all recommended packages installed.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I am using the "radeon" driver
and I have two monitors configured using MergedFB. Just a guess from a
non-techie.
