Thanks for the info.  So, can you quit out of amarok and then try to
determine what process is slowing the system down?  Are you sure it is
CPU utilization and not disk utilization?  Here are some commands to
try in the terminal.

After you close amarok (is it still running in the background?):
$ ps -e | grep -i amarok
$ top

What process seems to be using CPU after you close amarok?  It is also
a possibility that there is a bug in some other app (KDE?) that gets
triggered by amarok.  Le tme know if amarok is still running after you
close it, and we'll make some progress...
