"a similar problem" - is this the same problem, or a different one? As to the original poster, remove python2.4-tk and python2.4-gdbm and try again - these packages dont exist in edgy (dapper --> edgy renamed a lot of these) -- kubuntu-desktop wont install https://launchpad.net/bugs/51656
