I managed to side-step this issue by importing the correct driver for my
HP Deskjet 940c from /usr/share/cups/model/hpijs/HP/ and importing the
.ppd file instead of selecting it from the database in KDEprint

The sudo foomatic-cleanupdrivers command does a proper job at fixing
this issue though -- try that before anything else
