Hello,
when starting the soundserver in kde3.5.5 on edgy the system hangs for some seconds (~20), then  I get "Sound server fatal error: cpu overload, aborting".

This problem didn't occur with kde3.5.5 on dapper. I tested edgy with
the 2.6.15-27-k7 Kernel (which with it worked in dapper), but the
problem is still there.

The error does not occur, when choosing OSS instead of (automatic
selection or alsa)  in kcontrol->sound-system->hardware->choose audio
hardware.

So maybe this is in the end alsa and not artsd related?
