Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings

under System Settings -> Network Settings -> Network Interfaces there's a list of network interfaces, however the configuration parameters (speed, duplex, autonegotiate, etc.) are nowhere to be found - other than restarting (disabling+enabling) the connection, the GUI is near useless.
I was having problems with the network connecting working in Half Duplex rather than Full Duplex, and had to spend time searching forums and experimenting umtill I found ethtool and its command line options, which eventually solved the problem with the correct settings. Presenting itself as a viable replacement for Windows, I would expect such settings (basically everything ethtool does) to be available from the Network Settings GUI, as it is in Windows (device configuration properties GUI).
BTW when pressing the "Configure Interface" button (in Administrator Mode), where I expect these options to appear, there is an "Advanced Settings" button which looks like the intuitive place for these settings to be in some secondary dialog box. However, this button is always disabled (grayed out) no matter what I do.

** Affects: kde-systemsettings (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
