Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kmailcvt

When I installed Ubuntu 6.06.1 followed by same version of kubuntu-desktop over the top of a Mandriva 2005 install whilst preserving the previous /home partition I found that importing my previous kmail via kmailcvt :-
'file'
 'import messages'
'Import KMail Maildirs and Folder Structure'

from ~/.Mail

the old contents of inbox (but not it's subfolders), sent-mail, & drafts
were not imported.

Work around:-
It turns out that in ~/.Mail the inbox, sent-mail, & drafts folders were stored in MBOX format while the sub folders of inbox were imported correctly as they were stored in the normal kmail format.

N.B. It was possible to import these missed folders individually via the:-
   'Import mbox Files (UNIX Evolution)'
and selecting each in turn.

On another machine, also from mandriva 2005, the import worked a tread,
but on this machine the inbox, sent-mail etc were all in kmail format.

Main point:- Shouldn't the kmailcvt kmail filter import correctly even
if the previous kmail install used mbox for it's main folder formats.

Hope this helps someone, and I realise that it is of dubious bug status.

** Affects: kdepim (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
