The PSM (Personal security manager) is the firefox module that contains SSL
connectivity for https connections. I think it was a separate package at a
time. You can see details here:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/psm/.

I don't know the exact relationship with firefox. I guess it should come
installed with it. There is probably a problem that makes firefox not find
the appropriate libraries. I don't know why.
