Hi,
I've the same issues with a cheap HP Photosmart 616. Digikam on the other hand is very fast and displays immediatly the thumbnail list (with camera:/ you have to browse all those strange directory name i.e. /store_0001001/DCIM/100HP616/...).
digikam with --detect-camera can be launched by the mediamanager when a PTP camera is plugged in. What do you think?
