Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdepim

According to http://kmail.kde.org/kmail-pgpmime-howto.html#prereq , in
order for GPG to work with KMail, Kmail needs to be built with "libgpgme
>= 0.4.7" as a dependency.

"The KDEPIM package should depend on libgpgme >= 0.4.7. If it does not,
complain to the packager. This library is now required to build KMail,
not the least of reasons being that you, the user, don't need to bother
with compiling that yourself anymore. If KDEPIM does not depend on
GpgME, there are two alternatives the packager may have taken, both of
which are not supported by the KDE project: ... (Please see link for
details)"

Please see the output of "apt-cache show kdepim" in the comment below.

Versions of libgpgme in the repositories:
libgpgme11 - GPGME - GnuPG Made Easy
libgpgme11-dev - GPGME - GnuPG Made Easy
libgpgme-dev - GPGME - GnuPG Made Easy
libgpgme-ruby - GPGME bindings for the Ruby language
libgpgme-ruby1.8 - GPGME bindings for the Ruby language
libgpgme-ruby1.9 - GPGME bindings for the Ruby language
libgpgme6 - GPGME - GnuPG Made Easy

** Affects: kdepim (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
