I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 usin kubuntu 6.10 edgy eft.

This this problem seemed to be intermitant. I discovered that if I am
running on AC I am able to do shutdown or reboot from the desktop most
of the time. One out of five or six hang. I do not get a splash screen.
I either just get a blank screen with the back light on or a garbled
mess. But after an extended period of time there is a very short splash
screen and then shutdown. When I am running on battery the grey or
garbled screen will come up and just hang, never shutdown. Have waited
over thirty minutes.

I am always able while on AC or DC to end session and go back to the
login manager screen and shutdown or logout.
