downgrading to kde 3.5.2 as is on ubuntu repos i've got it working also.
(to do this i've got to disable kubuntu repos for amarok,koffice and
kde-latest, removed kde* and i've got to remove manually krita, koffice-
libs and ksysguard... )

going to upgrade to 3.5.4 so i can confirm that is a problem with 3.5.5
