In Kubuntu 'Breezy Badger' with KDE 3.4.3 the bug does definitely not appear. The KDE Bugzilla seems to be down at the moment so I can not lookup if there is also a report about this. Will try again later... -- Align icons to grid does not work on kdesktop https://launchpad.net/bugs/45713
