[Bug 43723] kdesktop uses hundreds of megabytes of ram (Dapper Flight 7)

Description:
Fresh install, Kubuntu Dapper Flight 7.  After booting in to the new
system and logging in, kdesktop proceeds to eat up ~900mb of RAM and
swap before I killed it.
