As already stated in my second comment the bug "fixed itself" after rebuilding the cache several times. My idea would have been, that KMail hits an unexpected corner case, when the index has some kind of error, and that this is an upstream bug, albeit a very minor one, as it does not occur in normal operation.

Otherwise KMail/Kontact is rock stable...
