I've created a short Flash video of the problem (using vnc2swf).  First I successfully load google.com from the location drop down.  Then I left click first on Groups, get the error, then left-click on News, get the error, then middle-click on News for a successful load into a new tab.  The video is at:

This should make it easier to understand the problem (if the Flash video works!)
