Description:
during kubuntu dist-upgrade keyboard stopped responding after setting up
pcmcia-cs and starting pcmcia services

X then stopped responding after powercycling, boot hung at starting
pcmcia services, was able to recover using knoppix and chrooting

this is a desktop machine with no pcmcia
