Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35103

Description changed to:
EDIT: I apologize, this was not due to the Kubuntu Live CD at all.
This is NOT a bug (how do I deleted this report?)

After I used the Kubuntu Live CD on my laptop, the next time I
attempted to boot the computer without the Live CD (booting as I
always do, from the main hard drive that has WinXP installed), the
boot process failed immediately stating "NTDETECT failed". On
subsequent boots, the same statement displays and I am unable to
boot my computer without the Live CD now.

This seems a very big deal, considering a Live CD should definitely
not mess with the MBR or affect subsequent booting of the computer
after it is no longer in use.

Using a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop and the Kubuntu Live daily build
    CD from 3/14/2006.
