Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34398

Affects: ept adept (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:

Installation:
   Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop (P4M, 512MbRam)
   Dapper Flight4 (kubuntu), upgraded 03/10/06
   kernel 2.6.15-18-686
   adept version 1.90ubuntu1

Start adept from the command line:
    sudo adept

Left click any installed package to show expanded
info. I used 'kmix' which is installed as part of the
distribution. In the expanded display select the
'Details' button. In the 'Details' display select
the 'Installed files' tab. The window contents
freeze, nothing is selectable. Minimizing and
restoring the window does not restore the
window contents. There is no crash trace. The
trace in the invoking command shell window contains as its last lines:

adept: ExtendableList::updateExtenders(); count = 0
adept: Thread waiting for mutex...
adept: starting thread (mutex acquired)
adept: PackageDetails::loadFileListWorker() entering loop
mkdir: Owner of /tmp/.ICE-unix should be set to root
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

kdeinit: Can't connect to the X Server.
kdeinit: Might not terminate at end of session.
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

kded: cannot connect to X server :0
kded: ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Registering failed!
kded: ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed.

In reference to the report about '.ICE-unix', the
directory entry on my installation shows:
drwxrwxrwt 2 tonyr tonyr 4096 2006-03-10 17:02 .ICE-unix

Using a 'not installed' package, e.g. 'kmilo',
does not produce the freeze, I assume because
ther are no installed files and no installation info
in the db.
