Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop
The upgrade from kubuntu 5.10 to 6.06 was mostly fine, but some bugs
occured. But first, this is how i upgraded:
I used this sources.list:
** /etc/apt/sources.list for my dapper ***

deb-src http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper main restricted

** What I did:
First I upgraded my breezy badger with
~# apt-get update
~# apt-get dist-upgrade
This gave some minor changes
Then I used the new repository and once again I ran:
~# apt-get update
~# apt-get dist-upgrade
and restarted my machine. It came up fine, and most of the programs
worked just fine. But not everything. here is my list over unwanted
changes/bugs:
* My system no longer automounts my usb-devices, but just before the
reboot it did. Udev is installed, and I also tried to reinstall every
dependent package in kubuntu-desktop, but not OpenOffice.org as I have
installed the latest version manually and want to keep this as my only
version. This also did not help. Only after restarting udev and
uncommenting and commenting the relevant lines in fstab I got the devise
working.
* k3b and amarok was uninstalled. Altough apt-get install borught them
back, this is not as expected as I already had those installed and did
want to keep them.
* I had set up my K-panel to disappear and reappear when the mouse moved
too the lower edge. My K-panel did not appear again as I did this with
dapper, then I found out that I had to move the cursour to the left
corner to accomplish this. That was higly unexpected, and only after
some troubleshooting did I find out that the panel actually worked
(almost) as it should. default should not changed unless I explicitly
say so, because the alternative is just confusing.
If more information is needed I will gladly give them. Most important
though is number 1 in the list: I have no clue how to bring back my
autodetect! Of course I can mount manually, but not all users are
expected to do this, and not all are allowded too.
All the best!
