We wish that this split would not be necessary. Unfortunately due to the support of restricted formats, this is the only way we can have xine in main. In order to have a working xine without stripped support for restricted formats, we had to duplicate the xine package, one in main with limited support for restricted formats, and one in multiverse with additional support for restricted formats. 

We have to live with this limitation for now. I'm sorry
