Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31949
Affects: kubuntu-meta kubuntu-desktop (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
I originaly used Ubuntu 5.10, after i did an automatic update on it I
got the message that one of the updates failed do to an error in the
downloaded package. Synaptic then kicked up a fuss and said i had a
broken package. Previously with brocken packages, it was a simple case
of telling it fo fix it, it went off found the packages required to fix
the dependancy and all was fine and dandy. Unfortunatly this time, it
decided that the entire of Ubuntu was in conflict with itself and so
uninstalled the entire operating system. I thought, well, i'm sure its
an unusual thing to happen, but then installed KUbuntu 5.10 (just cause
i like KDE better than gnome anyway). The thing is it did the exactly
the same thing! except it corrupted the harddisk, and now not even grub
can work! Perhapes the next edition should have some sort of anti file
corruption built into it to prevent this happening.
