[Bug 31824] Dapper: Adept takes multiple tries to start

Description:
I'll just describe my most recent experience:

>From the KDE menu, I launched Adept.  It asked for my password... and
then never started.

I tried again.  This time, it did not ask for my password.  I got a lot
of disk access for a while.  Then nothing.

Third time's the charm.  It asked for my password and then quickly
started.

I'm not getting any error messages.  The failures are silent.  There
should never be silent failures.
