for those having the same problem: as a workaround I use xfwm4 from xfce4 right now which works perfectly and has some more configurations than metacity from gnome but is not quite as configurable as kwin. -- no icons of running KDE-apps in gnome-panel when using kwin https://launchpad.net/bugs/70056
