Okay, this is some sort of config file problem.   I've yet to find out
which config file, and where the problem is, but it's not a problem with
a new .kde/  (i deleted mine by accident)

Also, running kappfinder seems to fix it (you have to install it first)
as it runs kbuildsycoca
