[Bug 42170] Changing File Manager settings either hangs kcontrol or enters infinite loop

Description:
My first set of changes in KDE Components -> File Manager resulted in
the "updating system settings" (not sure if that's the right text) box
looping through its progress indicator over and over.  The changes took,
and clicking cancel had the desired effect.  When I tried to reproduce
the problem (to get the right text displayed by the box) applying
changes locked up kcontrol.
