[Bug 37309] Re: adept_notifier is broken

I also have no green blob indicating an up-to-date system, but there is no sign of the udates available icon UNTIL I run Adept.  

ps -e also reveals adept_notifier is running, and doing a sudo apt-get --reinstall install adept does not fix the problem.

This problem only occured after I had a crash of the X11 system...
