Public bug reported:

Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I tried to attach a second display to my graphics card and the moment I
attached it to the second DVI port, my mouse and keyboard stopped
working. The onscreen cursor could no longer be moved and no keypress on
mouse or keyboard showed any result. Num lock was stuck and could no
longer be deactivated. Otherwise the system was still responding,

The setup is as follows:
kubuntu-dapper, current dist-upgrade (20.04.06)
primary display: 17" tft with VGA to DVI adaptor
(desired) secondary display: 15" tft with VGA to DVI adaptor
graphics card: nvidia GeForce 7800 with nvidia driver, both ports are dvi (thus the adaptors). The graphics card was configured with guidance in system settings.
mouse and keyboard are attached via ps/2.

Unfortunately I could not gather any more information, since, well my mouse and keyboard were non-functional. I could only reboot the machine with the power switch.
The display remained attached at first. But after the reboot about the same thing happened;
In bios and grub I could navigate with the keyboard just fine - but somewhere along the boot process input devices stop working. When KDE comes up there's no control anymore.
During all that time the secondary display wasn't displaying anything (had no chance to configured it).

I would really like to provide better feedback, so if anyone can point
me in the right direction (what to check, which logs to post here and so
on) I'd be glad to provide more information.
