[Bug 39673] splash image not showing

Description:
Hi

I have just installed this package in my dapper amd64 desktop machine
and there's no splash image at all.

I'm using a LVM, but this shouldn't be a problem since /boot is not in
the LVM.

I've tried using update-grub command, removing the hiddenmenu and grub
shows without a bg image.
