I'm having this exact same problem. At least, I'm pretty sure its the same problem.

For me kbuildsycoca crashes and causes any KDE program I've tried to crash. I cannot login to KDE, because the Desktop and KPanel, everything crashes this way.

Under Gnome, which works fine, if I run any command which envokes KDE programs via the Terminal, I get these errors. For example, if I run "kate" at the command line, or "kcontrol", or even "sudo kcontrol" I get these errors.

I have tried deleting my ~/.kde folder as well. Then, I went into synaptic and removed everything with KDE in the name, and did so as "completely remove" then I tried to reinstall. Same problem.

KDE was working fine before I reformatted and reinstalled Dapper. Upon reformatting, I installed kdebase to get KDE, because its essential that I have both Gnome and KDE installed on my machine.
(I used the Ubuntu Dapper Install CD, Flight 6, because I prefer the Ubuntu-Desktop way of doing things, and then I install kdebase so I have the option of using KDE, should I want to do so).

The only differences between my problem and the bug reporters are as follows:

1.) Not a single element of KDE (examples: Kate, Kcontrol, Konqueror, Kpanel, logging into KDE) that I've tried has worked for me.

2.) The bug reporter posted a backtrace. For me, trying to get the backtrace will show a few seconds and then crash like everything else.

As of the time I typed this, I tried to do apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade several times. There were updates today, and I installed them all, but I am still having this problem.
