There is nothing to prevent filling a partition, and this import is a very heavyweight process. I have to run some benchmarks to give actual requirements, but DV alone is 13GB per hour, and the lossless uncompressed intermediate AVI created between the mencoder and ffmpeg processes is even heavier. I have yet to come up with something better while maximizing the combination of simplicity, input compatibility, mencoder/ffmpeg version compatibility, and reliability.
