[Bug 35460] Re: Dapper: Sound doesn't work properly

I did a dist-upgrade so it seems that there may be some junk config causing problems.

I tried a live-cd and sound worked fine.

On further investigation this appears to be related to alsa.  Under the live cd, I have a sub device configured:

/proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/status:

state: RUNNING
trigger_time: 1143902310.809254000
tstamp      : 1143902456.775850000
delay       : -7006396
avail       : 7022780
avail_max   : 7022780
-----
hw_ptr      : 7006396
appl_ptr    : 0


On my upgraded system I simply have....

/proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/status:

closed


This appears to be the primary difference.  Any ideas as to how I can resolve it?
