That's the problem.  These packages are needed for autoconfiguration.  They are
installed by default when installing Ubuntu, though it is possible that the
daily build you tried was buggy.

Try the preview:

http://releases.ubuntu.com/5.10/

and reopen this bug if you still have a problem.
