Summary: packages lost during installation, nothing works
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: UNKNOWN
        AssignedTo: debzilla at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: backvall at msn.com
         QAContact: kubuntu-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

When I installed Kubuntu 5.10, at the end of the installation process, I was told that all packages wasn't installed, due
to not enough disk space, broken packages or something else. Since I installed on a 10 Gb partition, this doesn't seem to
be the problem. The installer suggested that I'd try to install these packages logged on the system. However, my package
manager isn't working, and not very much else either. I tried a few commands in the terminal, such as apt-get and so on,
but it kept telling me that I'm not root. Since I'm new to Linux/Unix, I woudn't know. But as the only user, I should have
administrative rights, without the system asking me over and over. Anyway, if somebody could help me here? I tried to
reinstall the system, with the same results. Not a very good first impression of a new OS I got here, and it should be
fairly easy to solve for someone experienced, but I'm not, eh?
