Just to note also that the problem occurs on a system upgraded from hoary to breezy (having been originally
installed as a Kubuntu hoary system). It appears that the problem is that hotplug & hal now makes the
mountpoints as /media/usbdisk or /media/<LABEL> (e.g. /media/PENDRIVE) if the device has a label, whereas the
KDE media: protocol is still looking for /media/sda1.
