Unable to perform a cdrecord -scanbus :

Unable to use K3b to burn - machine freezes (1G RAM, kernel 2.6.10-5-386).

Tried another command at the suggestion of a mailing list : 

duberry at wombat:~$ sudo cdrecord speed=10 dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 -eject -data 
/tmp/special.iso
