/usr/share/acpi-support/screenblank has several flaws when running under kde. 
 
Command  
  "xscreensaver-command -lock"  
cannot work because kde does not use the xscreensaver daemon.   
The proper command to activate the screensaver under kde is 
  "dcop kdesktop KScreensaverIface lock". 
 
Moreover, command  
  "xscreensaver-command -lock"  
takes several seconds to time-out. 
This delay is cumbersome when one waits for the computer to suspend. 
Even if one does not implement the dcop call, 
it would be good to invoke "xscreensaver-command"  
in the background.
